Moissanite keeps its brilliance for life. The metal around it needs a little care to stay bright. Five habits cover almost everything.

The five rules

Last on, first off. Put jewelry on after perfume, lotion and hairspray. Take it off before bed.
Keep it dry. Remove your pieces before showering, swimming, the sauna or the gym. Chlorine, salt water and sweat wear down plating fastest.
Wipe after wearing. A soft, dry cloth removes skin oils before they dull the shine.
Store pieces apart. Stones are hard enough to scratch metal. Keep each piece in its own pouch or compartment, like our velvet travel case.
No harsh cleaners. Skip bleach, ammonia, toothpaste and ultrasonic cleaners on plated pieces.

Cleaning moissanite

Soak the piece for a few minutes in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap. Brush gently behind the stone with a soft toothbrush, where dust collects. Rinse, then pat dry with a lint-free cloth. The sparkle comes straight back.

Sterling silver with gold or rhodium plating

Plating gives silver its white gold, yellow gold or rose gold color and protects it from tarnish. It is thin, so friction and chemicals slowly wear it away. Follow the five rules and the finish stays bright much longer. A gentle wipe with a jewelry polishing cloth is fine; heavy polishing is not.

14K gold filled

Gold filled pieces carry a thick layer of solid 14K gold, far thicker than plating, so they handle daily wear better. Clean them with warm soapy water and dry well. They do not need special polishes.
